Laguna Canyon is busy but shoulder adequate for single file. (I use this regularly on my bike commute.) Left turn on north end of Laguna Canyon is tricky but manageable. Can easily add miles on the Irvine or Aliso Viejo side to make it longer.

Elevation profile is for outbound direction only; reverse the profile for the return ride.
Can easily add Wood Canyon for more hills and a longer ride, or leave out Pacific Island Drive for a shorter ride. Or take a right on Crown Valley instead of going up Golden Lantern.

A variation of ride idea #2. Counter-clockwise loop avoids tricky left turn from Laguna Canyon to Old Laguna Canyon, but adds more left turns to the total ride. Freeway crossing is at Los Alisos with no freeway ramps. Use Trabuco instead of Jeronimo to make ride longer. Use Muirlands instead of Jeronimo to make ride shorter.
